The Fall of the Philippines: (December 1941-May 1942)
The day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Japanese air attacked on US air bases in the Philippines. The defending side outnumbered the Japanese 3 to 2. The Japanese used their best first-line troops, while the others were poorly trained. This destroyed most of the US airpower in the area. The Japanese forced Philippine land at various points; they overwhelmed US and Philippines land. The allied forces retreated to the Bataan Penisula and waited for reinforcements from the US.
